18 July marks Mandela Day, and this year Liverpool City Council is joining forces with Mandela 8 to make it the biggest and most meaningful celebration the city has seen.

Nelson Mandela has a special place in Liverpool's story. His connection to this city runs deep, and every year we honour his legacy together. 

Mandela Day is built around a simple but powerful idea: that each of us can change the world, and that an act of kindness can make a real difference. The theme this year is "It's in your hands."

This week pupils took some time to make a craft wood slice and decorate it with the south African flag and quotes from nelson Mandela. These will be placed in the Peace Garden.
