The Carers Trust is committed to providing opportunities for young and adult carers under 25 years to achieve and develop their future aspirations and goals through their Young Carers Futures programme.
The Young Carers Futures hub page can be found here for students and families to access.
In school, our Young Carers Champions are Miss Machin and Mrs Jones. We acknowledge that Young Carers often do not think of themselves as carers and it is important that they are recognised and get the appropriate support. Barnardo's Action With Young Carers works with young carers and young adult carers who are caring for an ill or disabled adult. Some illnesses and disabilities can be seen, others cannot. Barnardo's can be contacted on 0151 228 4455 and further details can be found in this leaflet.

Our school works with SIBS, a charity supporting children and young people who have a brother or sister with a disability, serious illness, or mental health condition. SIBS offers practical help, advice, and reassurance to make young carers feel less alone.
Two key resources for young people are:
"Young and Caring – Accessing Support" which helps young people get the practical and emotional support they need, and think about who else can help them. Everyone’s situation is different, so this workbook is just one of several tools available and "Young and Caring for Someone with a Mental Illness" is designed for those caring for someone with a mental health condition, but many tips are useful for any young carer.
There’s also extra guidance via Sense for young carers and siblings. To find out more, click here.
The Young Carers App is a free, safe, and secure app designed for young carers aged 17 and over. Developed by the Carers Trust with input from young carers themselves, the app provides practical advice, guidance, and resources to help manage caring responsibilities.
Key features include:
The app is accredited and verified (blue-ticked), so young carers can trust the information and support provided. It’s a handy tool to help you feel supported, stay informed, and look after your own wellbeing.
It's available on the app store for Apple and Android users.
We’re proud to have received the Barnardo’s Liverpool Schools Young Carers Award and the Young Carers in Schools Award from the Carers Trust, recognising our commitment to supporting young carers.
