On Tuesday, we welcomed children from Much Woolton and St Gregory's Primary schools for a May procession and crowning of Our Lady.
A May Crowning is the Catholic tradition of honouring Mary during the month of May with a crown of flowers. It recognises the special role that Mary played in salvation history and her unique relationship with her son, Jesus.
The service was led by our chaplaincy and music ministry students who accompanied the primary children with care and attention whilst Fr Peter Murphy helped us understand the importance of honouring Mary.
Sienna from St Gregory's crowned the statue of Our Lady in the chapel, accompanied by Riya (formerly St Gregory's) before the procession to the statue of Our Lady outside in the Peace Garden which was crowned by Alex from Much Woolton, aided by Alice (formerly Much Woolton).
All the students laid flowers at the feet of Mary before readers from the primaries led our intercessions with their beautiful and clear reading voices.
Thankfully, the weather remined kind to us and we finished our service with a rousing rendition of 'immaculate Mary'!
'Ave, ave, ave Maria!'
