St Julie's Remembers

The school community gathered together shortly before 11 o’clock on Friday to solemnly mark Remembrance Day.

Led by our Lay Chaplain, the poignant ceremony saw readings before the laying of poppy wreaths by house representatives and staff.

The lowering of our flags to half mast accompanied the sounding of the Last Post, and finally our perfectly observed two minute silence was started and ended with the blowing of a whistle, the signal used to order trench soldiers 'over the top' during the First World War.

After the ceremony students returned to their form bases to complete further activities of remembrance, which following the hard work of a fantastic team of student volunteers, led to the creation of a magnificent poppy waterfall with each petal carrying a personal reflection from our students.

Throughout the day we also ran slides on our corridor projectors honouring family members of our staff and students who have served in uniform.
