Student Union President Meets 1804 Society

Clara Priestley, President of the Liverpool Hope University Student Union, has visited St. Julie’s to speak to students about her work in tackling violence against women.

Clara has undertaken extensive work throughout her institution in addressing the issues surrounding violence against women, and was joined today by the Union Development Manager, Khuruum Dar, to speak of her experiences and ongoing work with members of our Sixth Form 1804 Society.

Clara was keen to work with our Sixth Form students and listen to their concerns. Growing up as a girl or young woman can present many challenges and Clara was here today to listen and prepare a presentation that she will deliver on Thursday 16 Decemeber, in PSHE, to all Sixth Form students. Topics covered will range from staying safe in our local communities to life on a University campus.

Mr Alderman, who respresents our Trustees on the Hope University Council, had heard Clara speak about her work to Council members recently. He said:

"I was inspired by what Clara had achieved in a very short time in her role as President of Hope University Students' Union. She is a fantastic role model for our students and passionate about tackling issues facing young women and girls. Our community is very lucky to be able to have some of her time and to listen to her story and her advice. We are very much looking forward to welcoming her back later in December."

Thank you to Clara and Khuruum for taking the time to join us today.
