Year 7 students have been demonstrating their love of Maths, as well as their skill in problem solving, by joining the Maths Challenge Club after school.
The club has been run by Year 11 student Emily Walker, who has willingly given up her time after school to support the Year 7 girls with their Maths development.
Each week the girls tackle a range of problem solving activities and play Maths related games to encourage their enjoyment of the subject. The girls mainly work through problems from the ‘Fun Maths Roadshow’ which develop the further through the roadshow you get. Students have pieced together Tarsia jigsaws on a variety of topics and have completed card sorts and domino style games.
They have also had opportunities to solve Maths riddles and apply their problem solving skills to the well know Sudoku puzzle. In some sessions the students finish with a Maths game or a strategy game like Jenga!
Thank you Emily for being such a great role model to our younger students.
