Virtual 'NOW Festival'

Over the past six years, St Julie’s students have been working with Merseyside Youth Association’s RAISE Team and competing in competitions which engage young people in creatively exploring topics of mental health.

This year, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, MYA felt that now more than ever, children and young people’s voices need to be listened to regarding how COVID has affected them, along with messages of hope for the future and what change they want to see.

So, for the first time ever NOW Festival is going virtual.

St Julie’s Year 9 students have risen to the challenge, embraced a different way of working and developed skills in film making to produce this year’s performance.

Here’s what the year 9 students say about their work,

‘Once Upon a Time’ in an original short film devised my Year 9 drama students.

After the unpredictable time we have all lived through, our story looks at the struggles we have faced, the lessons we have learnt and most importantly, what legacy we can leave behind.

Whilst it’s difficult not to focus on the pain and sorrow Covid 19 has brought, we thought it was vital to look at how we could turn what we’ve faced, into a positive.

We cannot change what has happened, but we can make a change!

You can see the running order for both nights here.

If you’d like to tune in and watch the NOW Festival, free tickets are available via the CAMHS website.

We hope you enjoy our performance of ‘Once Upon a Time’.
