15 of our Year 10 students represented St Julie’s in the Young Women in Physics event at the University of Liverpool.
They carried out several experiments and used undergraduate Physics apparatus to calculate the wavelength of laser light, using careful measurements and trigonometry and operated x-ray machines to discover the hidden contents of various items.
The students heard from female Physicists speaking about their jobs and of the opportunities available through continuing their study of Physics at university.
The girls were treated to ice cream at the end of the day, made by cooling cream with liquid nitrogen!
