On Tuesday 12th May, we were delighted to welcome back Dr. Alex Baratta from the University of Manchester to deliver a masterclass in sociolinguistics to the Year 12 and 13 English Language class.
Dr Baratta is a highly regarded specialist in the study of linguistics and he spoke to the students about a range of diverse topics such as language and identity, language and gender and accent persuasiveness.
Our students were commended by Dr Baratta for their insightful questions and enthusiasm. He also praised the wide selection of independent research projects our Y13 students have undertaken this year for their coursework. The English department is delighted to continue this ongoing link with Dr Baratta and the University of Manchester. Thank you to Mrs Jones for organising the masterclass.
