Pondered, prayed and planted!

St. Julie’s Inset day for staff on Friday, 28th June, started with a reflection on our Mission Statement.

As part of our ongoing commitment to living out its seven strands, it was decided to plant some trees which symbolise them.  So, for example, a cedar tree (which for millennia has been as symbol of healing, dreams, prayer and generosity) was planted to remind us of our commitment to taking care of all of God’s creation.

This tree has a special resonance for our Y12 students who are well on their way to achieving their dreams and are especially able to give back to the community which has given them so much.  As the cedar was planted, prayers were said for the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur who are working in Nicaragua – where the cedar can be found.

It was a lovely experience conducted in brilliant sunshine which perfectly captured the mood of the planting of the spiritual notions and seeds which inspire St. Julie’s on a daily basis.

Each year group had a tree dedicated to them and students will have the chance to plant some more trees before the end of the academic year.
