St Julie’s pupils’ were recently invited to participate in the Garston/South Liverpool Rotary Club photographic competition. The theme was ‘Reflection’ and the competition was open to all year groups. Entries included landscapes, water, self-portraits and a very creative interpretation utilising Anthony Gormley’s ‘iron men’ at Crosby.
Eight pupils submitted their work in the Secondary Schools category which was displayed and discussed in detail by chief judge Irene Drummond of the South Liverpool Photographic Society at the prize giving event last night to an audience that included pupils, parents and local Rotarians.
I am pleased to say that three pupils received prizes at the event where Scarlet McGowan also received a certificate of commendation for her work. Runner’s up were Lucy Hinton (year 8) and Medb Elliot-Pearson (year 7) and the overall winner of the competition was Milli Smith (year 10). You can see all of the competition entries at the Technology Department's Creative Gallery.
We are looking forward to participating in this event again next year and pupils should keep an eye out for future photographic competitions to be announced shortly.
