This conference was the first ever UK conference for Notre Dame students and marked a significant new chapter in the history of our schools. The conference was called ‘Seeds’ as we hope this experience will help us grow new links between our school communities in the future.
Our first day was spent getting to know each other and working in mixed groups to reflect on how we can be more open to leadership opportunities and how we can say ‘YES’ to God. The second day was spent reflecting on the powerful story of Notre Dame Sister Dorothy Stang, who worked tirelessly to protect the rainforests until she was killed for her campaigning. Students talked about what we can all do to fight injustice in the world. This was then followed by some time exploring Walsingham in our school groups before we joined together for a walk along the Holy Mile for our night prayer at The Shrine to Our Lady that finished with a rousing singalong of 'Qu’il est bon!'
Before we parted ways, we shared ideas on how we can stay in contact as a Notre Dame family in the UK and the students had some fantastic ideas. Everyone had an amazing experience and agreed that we must do it again soon!
