Careers in the Police

Over the past few days, we have been delighted to welcome PC Dawn Devanna and Chief Inspector Cassie Cunningham in to school to speak to our students about careers in the police.

Merseyside Police are recruiting for a diverse range of careers, including digital forensics, horse grooms, mechanics, medical staff and dog handlers.

A lot of civilian roles are also starting to be created, so in a few years when St Julie’s students are thinking of starting their career, a lot of new opportunities will be available to them.

There are a few different ways that you can access a career in the police force.  You need to be 18 years old to apply, and it is now a professional organisation that requires a degree level qualification to join.  Merseyside Police will pay for this course – so there will be no student fees for you to pay if you decide to join.  You will also be earning a wage when you sign up and get accepted. The starting salary is over £24,000!

Have a look at the presentation for further information. If you have any questions, please come and ask Miss gawley in school, who will get the answers for you.
