Local football fans who were disheartened by the Lionesses semi-final departure from the World Cup can take solace from a different winning connection.

The USA lifted the trophy after a decisive second goal which was a magnificent solo effort from Rose Lavelle. Rose was a student at Mount Notre Dame High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, and they are very proud indeed of their World Cup winning student. 

It's good to know that at least some part of the trophy is staying in the family!
