Soroptimists International Public Speaking Competition

Mar 16, 2009

On Saturday 14th March, Roisin Casey and Kate McCormack in Year 9 represented St. Julie's in the Liverpool School's Public Speaking Competition held at Broughton Hall School. The students had to prepare and deliver a three minute talk on one of the following topics: "Is money ruining sport?" or "Is what we wear important?"

Students from St Edward's College, Archbishop Blanch, Chesterfield High School, Childwall Sports College and Broughton Hall were also represented. The standard was extremely high, with all students doing their best and giving the judges a very difficult job. Although neither Roisin nor Kate took the trophy home, they gave excellent speeches and were a credit to St. Julie's. The trophy was won by one of the students from Archbishop Blanch.

We will certainly be back next year to try again!

Our thanks go to Miss Sarson for her hard work for this event.
