Remembrance 75

The Peace Bell has tolled in the Peace Garden throughout this week as our Headteacher, Mr Alderman, and Head Girl, Lily Devin, started the countdown to Remembrance Day on Monday, 11th November.

75 years on from one of the most significant days of the Second World War - D-Day,  6th June, 1944 – the Peace Bell will toll 75 times as we remember and pay tribute to those who died that day. Students of all years and staff are part of this process where we also think of all who have died in conflicts before and since.

St. Julie, who nursed wounded soldiers at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815, once said: “Peace is the greatest pledge of God’s love for you.  Preserve this precious treasure carefully.”   This week, the pealing of the bell is an expression of our determination to preserve the precious treasure of peace and be peacemakers in a troubled world.
