Students Respond to New Zealand Tragedy

On Friday, 15th March, the bell in the Peace Garden at St. Julie’stolled to call people to prayer in response to the terrible events of earlier that day in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Over 300 students and staff gathered in their break time to reflect on this atrocity and to express our solidarity with those directly affected.

After a short reflection featuring the words of New Zealand Prime Minister, Jacinda Adern, who had defiantly said "They are us", prayers were offered in Arabic and English.

The Peace Bell then tolled 49 times - once for each victim who had lost their life.   Later, a Book of Condolence was available in the Chapel.
