The Year 13 BTEC Scientists were invited to visit Chapter Brewing Company in Runcorn to learn about the industrial application of enzymes.

The students saw all the processes involved in the life cycle of making beer.  They learnt how the temperature, pH and concentration of enzymes were regulated to ensure consistent quality of product and also how sanitation and quality control were a vital part of the production process.

Additionally, they were given instruction on some of the business aspects of running a small company, such as sourcing ingredients, production time, distribution and profit margins.
