Congratulations to Remi in Year 9 who delivered a powerful speech, coming third in the Archdiocese West Cluster Public Speaking competition.

The competition was held at Archbishop Beck Catholic Sports College and there were competitors from six schools in attendance.

Remi held off some stiff competition with her speech on the topic of ‘Is freedom an illusion?’ Remi’s speech traced the treatment of African Americans since the 13th Amendment to the United States Constitution abolished slavery. It was a powerful presentation indeed, and particularly pertinent, given America has just celebrated its annual Independence Day.

Congratulations Remi for an incredible performance in your first public speaking competition. The English department are very proud of you!
