On Remembrance Day, Sunday 13th November, St. Julie’s paid respects to the fallen through our Head Girl, Megan, and Deputy Head Girl, Oonagh, at the City of Liverpool Service of Remembrance and Dedication at St. George’s Hall.
The service was moving as ever with poppies, wreaths, music, prayers and marching by uniformed organisations including serving and former armed forces personnel.
One of the most poignant moments was when Joey (the War Horse puppet from the play of the same name by Michael Morpurgo) honoured the wreaths laid by dipping his head.
Before and after the service, Megan and Oonagh bumped into various dignitaries including Archbishop Malcolm, Anglican Bishop Paul Bayes and Mayor Joe Anderson - who is a very strong supporter of St. Julie's and who was instrumental in ensuring our new school building was constructed!
It was a very special day and St. Julie’s was proud to be a part of it.
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them. We will remember them.
