Students at Launch of Writing Project

On Monday 6th November, Chloe and Claudia in Year 7 accompanied Miss McKean to Liverpool Central Library to attend the launch of a new city-wide writing project called 'In My Life'. This is an exciting opportunity to explore diary writing in lots of different forms - through looking at famous historical entries such as Anne Frank's Diary, to writing our own diaries! The project's title 'In My Life' reflects the famous Beatles song, and a strong emphasis of the writing will be on our lives here in Liverpool.

At the launch, we were lucky enough to listen to authors Frank Cottrell-Boyce and Emy Onuora, who read excerpts from their books and spoke about the importance of writing stories. We also watched schools from across the city perform from famous diaries ,and one primary school even presented their Sign Language Choir!

Look out for diary writing across your English lessons this year. If writing a diary is something that interests you, or you're already doing it, there will be a competition during the Spring term with entries from across the city and some amazing prizes! If you're interested, please see Miss McKean for further details.
