Being true to our school motto of 'let them be taught what is necessary for life', 15 Year 8 pupils were given the opportunity to attend practical DIY activities at the B&Q Superstore in Mersey retail Park.

The focus of the event was to give girls the opportunity to learn basic practical DIY skills which included preparing a wall for decorating, measuring and cutting wallpaper to length, pasting and hanging wallpaper, applying emulsion paint to walls and picture hanging.

All of the girls thoroughly enjoyed the practical activity organised by the National Schools Partnership for Learning and we later also discovered that they were actually the first school in the country to participate in the ‘Job Done’ event and our evaluations will now be shared throughout the B&Q network of 360 stores prior to the event becoming a nationwide opportunity for all pupils.
