Homework

At St. Julie's we recognise the value of well structured homework and expect all students to complete homework regularly. It is set to enrich pupils' classroom learning and to give teachers as an additional means to assess their learning.

We recommend that pupils spend the following amounts of time on homework and further study:

Years 7 and 8: 1.5 hours per day
Year 9: 1.5 hours per day
Years 10 and 11: 1.5 to 2.5 hours per day

In order to help make sure that homework is manageable and equally distributed we use homework timetables for each year group. These timetables will help you to keep track of which homework activities your child will be expected to undertake each evening.

Our experienced teachers work hard to ensure that homework stretches our most able students and underpins classroom learning for students who sometimes struggle to succeed.

Sometimes, however, you may feel that your daughter is overburdened and struggling to cope with homework, or may be finding the set work insufficiently challenging. If you are concerned that this may be the case please contact your daughter's subject teacher in the first instance. Any further queries should be directed to your daughter's Progress Leader.
