We were delighted to welcome World Champion and Olympic gymnast Beth Tweddle to school on Tuesday 24 February.

Beth is a long standing friend of the school, having presented at school Prize giving and speaking to the students. Beth also runs her successful gymnastics academy, Total Gymnastics, 2 nights a week here at St Julie's in our fully equipped gymnastics hall. Equipment in the hall has recently been upgraded to include a set of asymmetric bars, enabling the students to benefit from a wider range of gymnastic experiences.

During her visit, Beth was keen to find out how the new build will accommodate her gymnastics academy. Mr Alderman was able to show plans of all the sports and performing arts areas. Beth was very impressed with the new build design and the potential for further development of her academy. Having all the sports and performing arts spaces in the one block gives a greater flexibility to spill out into different areas, for the purpose of training, individual and group coaching as well as gymnastics showcase events and competitions. Beth said "the new school looks amazing and will really enhance the facilities. As well as better organisation of facilities it will be easier to access by the community after normal school hours."

Beth is always welcome here at St Julie's and we hope she will continue to be a regular visitor to the school, sharing her experiences and inspiring the students.
