On Thursday 7th July, Year 7 students were selected to attend a zoom call with published author, Jeffrey Boakye. Jeffrey talked with students about race, identity and musical history, with focus on his book 'Musical Truth'.
Together, we musically time travelled from the black musicians of the Windrush generation, to 1990s Hip Hop, Garage music of the early 2000s, through to modern day black British artists such as Stormzy and Dave. Jeffrey helped us to consider and understand lyrics, culture and identity.
'Musical Truth' by Jeffrey Boakye is now available in our school library for you to borrow and enjoy!
