Sixth Form Seeing Stars!

This week 6th form Science students enjoyed a presentation delivered by Dr. Jennifer Claydon and Dr. Emma Smith from LJMU.  The presentation gave an overview of the different areas of Astrophysics and how/why professional astrophysicists are able to study these, and introduced the skills and career opportunities that studying Astronomy and Astrophysics at university can provide.

They looked at the different types of Astrophysics courses available at university (e.g. foundation year/integrated master courses), including an overview of grade requirements and discussed other important things to consider when choosing a university, such as location and university type (city versus campus).

Students were also introduced to some of the content and modules that they could study on a Physics with Astronomy BSc before touching on earning potential and our EPQ cohort were able to ask questions about their current projects. All in all, it was a fantastic opportunity for the students and we look forward to working with LJMU again in the near future!
