Letter from the Headteacher

Oct 13, 2021

13 October 2021

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am very saddened to be writing this letter to you, however I must report that one of our serving teachers died on Tuesday 12 October, at the age of 39. She leaves behind two children, aged 7 and 3.

Miss Duffy has served as teacher of Business Studies and Curriculum Leader for Social Sciences & IT since September 2011. In the decade she has been at St Julie's she has always been a popular and well-respected member of staff. Miss Duffy always attracted large numbers of students to study GCSE and A Level Business studies with her and in recent years we have had to put on extra classes to cope with the numbers choosing her subject. Apart from gaining excellent results for her students, Miss Duffy was always extremely well organised and supported all students well through their courses. Miss Duffy has been a significant voice in the school's Middle Leadership group and contributed significantly to our 'Good' OFSTED result in 2018, where Leadership was judged to be 'Outstanding', naming Middle Leadership as a real strength of the school.

I have met with staff today and with the students in her classes, to break this sad news and to pray for her. Support is in place for students affected by the loss of such a young, vibrant teacher and much-loved role model for the students. I would ask that you remember Miss Duffy in your thoughts and prayers in the days to come.

Yours faithfully

Mr T Alderman
