Award Winning Performance at NOW Festival!

Congratulations to our Year 9 performers whose submission for this year's NOW Festival has once again proven to be award winning!

This year's festival has, for the first time, taken place as a virtual event with performances submitted by video. This gave our students a chance to showcase their film making skills as they worked tirelessly on their submission: 'Once Upon a Time'.

Speaking about their film, the performers said: "After the unpredictable time we have all lived through, our story looks at the struggles we have faced, the lessons we have learnt and most importantly, what legacy we can leave behind.

Whilst it’s difficult not to focus on the pain and sorrow Covid 19 has brought, we thought it was vital to look at how we could turn what we’ve faced, into a positive."

The judges clearly approved of this approach, with the performance winning the 'Catalyst for Change' award.

As well as their devised piece, the students also worked on two other films with the First Take Film Company. The films, 'Education' and 'Aces' - the latter being a joint production with students from Kings Leadership Academy - will be used as training tools for staff and professionals across the city as a way of students' voices being heard.

You can see all three films right here!
