Construction Challenge 2009

Apr 1, 2009

Liverpool Compact invited girls' schools across the city to participate in a 'mini-build' competition to help raise awareness of careers and opportunities for women in construction.

A team of girls from the Year 10 Graphics group built, landscaped and presented their house to a panel of judges from the construction industry who included a Structural Engineer, a Civil Engineer and a Project Manager.

At the event, we learnt about the kind of work undertaken by the judges in their chosen professions and also discovered what training and experience was needed to get them to where they are now.

There were seven schools represented on the day and I'm pleased to reveal that our year 10 pupils were triumphant again, having won the title last year too. We later learned that that this back to back success has not been achieved previously which made winning the event on this occasion even more special.
