Celebrated Author Visits St. Julie's!

We were delighted to welcome children's author Cathy Cassidy for a visit to school as part of PSHE day activities!

As part of her Marshmallow Skye Schools Tour, Cathy talked to students in Year 8, speaking about her influences and writing. The presentation was followed by a book signing in our LRC.

One insight that Cathy gave was that her 2009 book, Angel Cake, was inspired by a pupil that she met on a previous trip to Liverpool. She met a Polish girl who suggested that Cathy wrote a story about a young girl starting out in a new country, just like she did. The book was duly written and the two met again at a book signing!

Mrs Webster, our Learning Resource Centre Manager, said: "We're hugely excited to have an author of Cathy Cassidy's prestige visiting our school. Her work is very popular with our students and they were thrilled to meet her."
