St. Julie's Welcomes Sister Teresita

We were honoured to receive a visit today from Sister Teresita, a member of the Congregational Leadership Team of the Sisters of Notre Dame who oversees the work of the Sisters across the five continents of Europe, Asia, Africa and North and South America.

Originally from Columbus, Ohio, Sister Teresita attended a Notre Dame school and was greatly inspired by a Sister who taught her in the fourth grade. She went on to train as a nurse, but subsequently became a Sister herself, spending 22 years working with the most impoverished members of society in Chicago, Illinois.

Sister Teresita visited us today to see the Charism of St. Julie as alive in our school as it has ever been. She visited students in classes and had the opportunity to see them at their work, before seeing some performances by the A Level Dance Group, Year 10 Dance Company and hearing two performances from the BTEC Music Group including a song by the Beatles.

After touring the school, Sister Teresita made time to meet with the Full School and Sixth Form Councils, who were able to ask questions about her life, work and inspiration.

Mr Alderman spoke for everyone when he said "We are absolutely delighted that Sister Teresita could join us today. Her calmness and tranquility in explaining the highs and lows of her personal journey were a great inspiration to the many children that she met."
