On the evening of Wednesday, 20th November, 2019, nine of our most gifted 6th Formers headed off to Liverpool John Moores University for the launch of HE+ - a programme run by Cambridge University which challenges young people to enrich their learning beyond the classroom.
Our students met up with those from other schools across the region and had a fascinating Masterclass delivered by LJMU’s FaceLab which deals with computer based techniques of facial reconstruction used in archaeology, criminal investigations and TV/film.
After an introduction to the logistics of the HE+ programme, participants then split into subject based groups to discuss the collaborative projects they are going to undertake. St. Julie’s was represented in the Medical, Maths, History and English groups.
On re-gathering at the end of the day, there was lots of excited talk about the adventures ahead which include the possibility of residential visits to Cambridge and other universities. We’ll keep you up to date with progress.
