St Julie’s Catholic High School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff, governors, volunteers and visitors to share this commitment
On the afternoon of Thursday 7th November, 14 students, from Years 7-10, attended the Debate Mate launch event which was held in the John Moores’ Parsons Building.
As part of this experience, our students had the opportunity to meet (and scrutinise!) their opponents from fourteen different schools across the city. In addition, our girls were lucky enough to witness a ‘show debate’ delivered by highly-skilled speakers, who have recently participated in the Debate Mate programme. This meant that the pupils could see and hear the impact that participating this programme can have on one’s interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills.
This event was designed by the Debate Mate co-ordinators to inspire the pupils from Liverpool and show them that their opinions matter and that they will be heard.
The first session of St Julie’s Debate Mate begins on Wednesday 13th November (3.30-4.30 in The Chapel) and will run for 17 weeks.
