Sister Margaret Unveils Artwork

On her visit to school today Sister Margaret, Chair of Governors, unveiled the new glass artwork that forms the setting for the icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help.

In the short ceremony in the school Chapel, Sister Margaret was reunited with the pilgrims from the recent visit to Rome, and spoke to them about the symbolism of the objects they took with them. These included the replica icon and an olivewood cross incorporating a relic in the form of a bone fragment from the mortal remains of St. Julie.

Sister Margaret explained that though this might seem a little macabre in the 21st Century, it represents a centuries old tradition of religious relics, and she went on to talk about their significance.

We then enjoyed a performance of a new hymn by 'Overwhelm', our music ministry, who then presented Sister Margaret with honourary membership!

Finally, Sister Margaret placed the icon of Our Lady in the new setting of golden glass.
