Year 7 Go Walkabout!

On Thursday 4th July 80 of our year 7 students took to the woodlands of Cholmondeley Castle in Cheshire to participate in a 3-day 'Bushcraft' weekend - organised by The Bushcraft Company - an outdoor activities group.

They camped in tents of 10 and the aim was to promote social interaction, with phones and devices staying at home, and learn new skills from First Aid; Bush Survival; Team Building; Safe Handling of equipment/knives; how to safely make a fire; wood carving techniques; making tribal bracelets and even ponassing salmon! Some of our more heroic students even took on the bushtucker challenge of eating the fish eyeballs!

All of the girls rose to the challenges they faced, and their indomitable good spirits and constant regard for each other's welfare culminated in them being described as the best group the Bushcraft company had ever had. They made all of us extremely proud.
