Year 10 Engineer Success!

Fifty Year 10 students participated this week in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) event at St. Julie's.

The event was delivered by a visiting engineer from the Smallpeice Trust who was able to engage the students in a ‘whole day' design and make experience.

Participants were encouraged to consider elements of design, properties of materials, costing and the manufacture of a finished product which could be both tested and evaluated at the end of the day.

Students also considered career pathways associated with the STEM subjects and five lucky pupils have been invited to participate in the National Grid Work Experience Residential course held at their training centre in Nottingham in July.

All involved thought that it was a rewarding and thought provoking experience and we look forward to welcoming the Smallpeice Trust back to St. Julie's in the future.
