Design Stars 2010

The Year 11 Graphic Products GCSE group recently participated in the Design Stars Competition sponsored by the Liverpool Echo, the Design Initiative, Sony and the Nonconform design consultancy.

Three pupils (Catherine Bayley, Kate Bryson and Rachel Teare), made it through to the final stages and took part in a design master-class with professional designers at the Bluecoat.

All three also had their work exhibited at St.Georges Hall during the Design Show which attracts exhibitors and visitors from all over the UK.

There was a lot of competition with over 170 entries in total from secondary schools across the city and we are pleased to announce that Catherine Bayley (pictured, second from right with Mr Radburn and our other finalists) achieved a much deserved second place in the Graphic Design category and all three of the girls work was highly praised by the director of the Nonconform design consultancy.

The D&T department are very proud of all of the girl's achievements and especially our three Design Stars finalists for 2010 and we now look forward to participating in next year's competition which will be underway shortly!
