Free School Meal Applications

Is your child eligible for a free school meal allowance? If you’re not sure it’s easy to find out using Liverpool City Council’s online application tool.

It’s worth your time finding out. The Department for Work and Pensions estimate that over £13 billion worth of entitlements go unclaimed in Britain each year, and for free school meals it’s not as complicated as it used to be to apply.

How does it work in practice?

Once your application is approved, eligibility for free school meals is recorded by the school office. It doesn’t appear on class registers, reports to parents or any information made available to students.

Once the record is made by the office staff, the cashless catering system automatically credits a daily allowance to your daughter’s catering account which she can use to buy her meal at lunchtime. St. Julie’s also credit an allowance for breakfast too, and service starts in our Dining Room from 8am. Nothing in the dining room or on the till will display your daughter’s entitlement. If you want to add further credit yourself to your daughter’s account using ParentPay then you can feel absolutely free to continue to do so.
