St Julie’s Catholic High School is a popular and oversubscribed school for girls, situated in the conservation area of Woolton Village, South Liverpool.  In September 2017, we moved into our brand new £23 million school building.  The Design Technology Department comprises five staff, to deliver Graphics, Art, Food Technology and Health & Social Care.  Art is delivered as a separate subject within the department as a core subject at KS3 with option groups delivering courses in Key Stages 4 and 5. The department is well resourced with two art studios, two technology suites with CAM equipment including a laser cutter and cutter-plotter plus other light manufacturing equipment, and a fully equipped Food Technology room. Cross curricular schemes are embraced by the department and extra-curricular clubs are well attended in all subjects.

GCSE and Sixth Form results in 2017 demonstrated excellent progress since our last inspection with a Progress 8 score that is in line with national, and positive value added scores for A-Level (top 25%) and BTEC (top 10%) that demonstrated the commitment of staff and students to their teaching and learning. 

We are seeking to appoint a Teacher of Art to join our successful and established Design & Technology Department for September 2018 or earlier.  Our teaching staff in the department come with a very high level of combined experience and knowledge, and in Summer 2017 we achieved 92% A*-C at GCSE. You will be passionate about your subject, whilst transferring your knowledge in a creative and contextualised way in the classroom, and successfully plan and deliver consistently good lessons on a daily basis that both challenge our students and significantly advance their learning. You will follow the Art, Craft and Design endorsement at GCSE and A Level. The courses are designed to promote learning across a variety of experiences through a range of processes, tools, techniques, materials and resources to generate different kinds of evidence of working outcomes in a variety of media and our ideal candidate will demonstrate a particular aptitude for drawing and painting. You will be relentless in your pursuit of progress for each and every one of your students so they can achieve the outcomes they deserve, and grow into young adults that positively contribute to their community.  You will instil pride in the work they do and encourage their individuality and personal qualities.  Whether you are at the start of your career or an expert teacher we focus on what attributes you will bring to the school and most importantly what impact you will have on our students.
