Our Remembrance Day reflections this year have begun with a thought provoking large scale art installation.

The artwork, which uses several hundred white painted canes, each topped with a poppy, is the creation of Mr Harvey in our Art Department who has worked with many of our students to realise the project.

He explains: "Many war monuments are so long established that they have become almost a part of the background in the awareness of some younger people. By presenting a memorial in both a modern idiom and an incongruous location we hope to prompt all those passing by to really think about why they are there and understand the nature of the sacrifices that were made."
