National Poetry Day

To celebrate the annual festival of all things poetic, Year 8 pupils at St. Julie's spent the day immersing themselves in the art of creative writing.

Two poets - Sarah Maclennan and Alison Down - led the pupils in a performance of their work and then encouraged them to write their own poems in a series of workshops. The poets are part of a local arts organisation called The Windows Project.

Mrs Luney, Curriculum Leader for English said: "Poetry is a vital form of expression, allowing pupils to explore their feelings. Today has been a marvellous experience for pupils and staff. We have witnessed a blossoming of creativity which we will now be capitalising on as the Year 8s progress through this year."
