Iconic Walk of Witness!

Iconic Walk of Witness!
This was a momentous week in our local parishes of Bishop Eton and St. Mary’s, Woolton as they started a novena (a nine day prayer cycle) to mark the 150th anniversary of the arrival at Bishop Eton of a very special icon – Our Lady of Perpetual Succour.

Wednesday, 22nd June also saw the 47th anniversary of the canonisation of our own Saint Julie so, on that day, a group of pupils and teachers undertook a Walk of Witness – carrying our Year of St. Julie and House flags as well as our own copy of the icon – from school to St. Mary’s then to SFX (where we were joined by a group of pupils and staff) and finally to Bishop Eton.  There were five prayer stops along the way where we reflected on the history of the icon before moving on reciting the rosary.

At Bishop Eton, we joined the parish community at mass where Archbishop Patrick Kelly preached.  At the end of mass, there were photo opportunities so that our copy of the icon, presented to Mr Alderman by Fr. Tim, could be seen alongside the treasured icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour.

Our pupils were fantastic throughout and their presence was very much appreciated by parishioners.
