Dear Parents/Carers

Re: Health & Safety and New Build update

I am writing to you at this time to give you an update on the progress with the new build and provide some important information to keep your children safe as the building work progresses.

During this half term, at some stage, the side gate from Woolton Street will have to be closed until further notice, in order to allow services to be brought into the school. At that point, the area inside the school gate will be dug up. All students must then only access the school site through the main gate on Speke Road by the zebra crossing. Students must not walk up the access road, as cars and construction vehicles are coming in and out at all times throughout the day. The entrance on Speke Road will allow the students to walk up the steps and around the field and into the main playground as normal. Once on the school playground, children are safe to continue as usual. We are currently using part of the whole school playground for car parking. However, Kier Construction are building a road around the outside of the new build area to enable cars to drive around the back of the school and park their vehicles. Once this happens all the playgrounds will be restored to normal use for students only.

We have also received a request from Mr White, Headteacher at Much Woolton Catholic Primary School, to notify you that a one-way system will be in operation in Watergate Lane from now until further notice.

Between 8.30 am - 9.15 am and 3.00 pm - 3.45 pm, Monday to Friday, drivers going down Watergate Lane will need to go down the hill, during these times, such that a one-way system is in operation. When leaving Watergate Lane drivers are asked to go along Woodrock Road and leave via Manor Road. This is to help to ease congestion in Watergate Lane at drop-off and pick-up times for Much Woolton Catholic Primary School during the period of time that St Julie’s is having its new build and the Redrow estate is being built which has caused additional traffic in this area. Mr White would be very grateful if you would support him with this in order to ease congestion whilst also ensuring the children are kept safe when being dropped off and picked up at Much Woolton Catholic Primary School.

Thank you for your cooperation and support in this matter.

Yours faithfully

Mr T Alderman
Headteacher
