Notre Dame Awards Presentation

2016 is The Year of St. Julie and special awards were presented this week to some exceptional students.

The Notre Dame Awards are based on the wisdom and ideals of St. Julie, the extraordinary woman who founded the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur.  After her death in 1816, they continued her mission to educate girls across the world.

Here we are, 200 years later, and we feel proud to be the only Notre Dame secondary school in the country to be named after St. Julie.

Our Chair of Governors, Sr. Margaret, presented commemorative plaques to each of our award winners in the following categories.

The Hearts as Wide as the World Award went to Abbie (Y10).
The Angel of Peace Award winner was Bethany (Y11).
The Simplicity of Spirit Award was presented to Olivia (Y8).
The Sunflower Award winner was Katie (Y11).
The Treasure of the Community Award went to Emily (Y8).
The Courageous Soul Award was won by Abbey (Y11).
The Serving the Good God Award recipient was Rachel (Y12).
The winners of the prestigious Spirit of St. Julie Award were Monieka (Y13) and Savannah (Y13).

Well done to all of these wonderful young people as they continue the legacy of St. Julie and the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur.
