Primary F1 Challenge Regional Final!

On Tuesday Mr Radburn had the pleasure of attending the North West regional final of the Primary F1 Challenge hosted by Jaguar Land Rover at their Halewood Operations.

St Julie’s leads the South Liverpool Hub and we have proudly supported three of our feeder schools in the event this year.

Pupils from Much Woolton, Christ the King and St Pascal Baylon have attended after-school and extra-curricular activities over recent months to design and develop a portfolio of evidence and an F1 styled racing car that they used to compete against other teams at the regional final this week.

The schools were successful in many categories that included best verbal presentation (Speed Demons from St Pascal Baylon), best engineered car (Supersonic Speedster from Christ the King), best making challenge (Woolton Warriors from Much Woolton), best portfolio and pit display (Speed Demons from St Pascal Baylon) and Fastest Car (Lightning Speed from Christ the King) which covered the 25m track in 1.06 seconds! This year’s Discretionary Award went to Fast Forward from Christ the King for the outstanding literacy skills which they displayed in the form of a poem that they performed for the judges.

We are pleased to report that Speed Demons came second overall (narrowly missing 1st place by 5pts) and will go on to represent Liverpool at the National Final in the Ricoh Arena in Coventry in June. This is a fantastic achievement considering that there have been over 10,000 primary aged pupils involved in this event across the country this year.

So on behalf of everyone at St Julie’s, congratulations to all who participated and we look forward to supporting Speed Demons all the way to the National Finals. Watch this space for further news of the big day in June!
