Eclipse Watching!

Eclipse Watching!

On the final day of British Science Week, students have enjoyed the very rare celestial event of an eclipse over Britain.

Shortly before the eclipse this morning, participating students gathered on the front field with a bewildering array of safe viewing devices, ranging from stacked sunglasses and sheets of paper to fairly elaborate pinhole cameras.

Everyone noticed that it was very cold when the sun went in! Despite the layer of relatively thin cloud, great views were obtained of the eclipse, which has been heralded as a particularly good one for Britain.

It wasn't just those outside that got to enjoy the spectacle however. Lots of viewing was done from the comfort of indoors, and those students lucky enough to be in ICT on the top floor enjoyed a particularly good view!
