Term 1

- Grammar focus – nouns, adjectives, present tense,(regular and irregular) immediate future tense
- Grammar plus – opinions
Assessment: All classes will complete assessments covering the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. A controlled assessment in writing worth 15% of the GCSE will be completed.
Term 2
- Self, family and friends
- Daily routine - weekday routines, weekend routines
- Healthy living, illness and accidents
- Grammar focus - Reflexive verbs, basic past tense, opinions
- Grammar plus - Present and imperfect
Assessment – All classes will complete assessments covering the skills of listening and reading. A controlled assessment in speaking worth 15% of the GCSE will be completed.
Term 3
- Free time – sports, leisure activities and hobbies
- Fashion and shopping – clothes, latest trends, food items and prices
- Life in German speaking other countries
- Regions of France– overview of German geography and main cities
- Grammar focus – Future tenses and future timers
Assessment – All classes will complete end of year assessments covering the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing.
Year 11

- Types of transport
- Regions of Germany
- Life in German speaking countries
- Accommodation
- Clothes for holidays.
- Local community, home town, environment, shopping
Grammar; past tense regular and irregular verbs, imperfect tense, (higher) future tenses, opinions and reasons and conditional tense phrases.
Assessment; Controlled writing and speaking assessments worth 30% of overall GCSE mark to take place this term. Mock examinations in listening and reading to take place in December.
Term 2
- Pollution and recycling comparison between country and city living.
- Free time and leisure activities
- Media and social issues(homelessness, crime, drugs etc)
- Work Experience and jobs
- Technology
- Illness and accidents.
Grammar ; comparison and superlative of adjectives
Assessment; Final writing and speaking assessments to take place if necessary.
Term 3
Listening and reading GCSE exam preparation to cover core vocabulary and past examination papers.
