London 2012 has proven to be a hugely successful Games for Team GB, and we're delighted to congratulate our representatives there!
Rachel Brown and the Team GB Ladies Football Squad has a fantastic tournament, with a sure highlight to be a victory over no less a footballing national than Brazil in front of 70,584 people in Wembley Stadium!
Sadly, the team's scorching unbeaten run came to an end in the knockout stages of the tournament, ultimately reaching a quarter final match against Canada. We're proud of all of them for what they've achieved during these games.
On the Track and Field, Katrina Johnson-Thompson was in amazing form in the Heptathlon. Kat was a little set back when her long jump performance wasn't quite as long as her usual very high standards. Despite this, she equalled her personal best in the hurdles and set a new personal best in the high jump.
Facing her least favourite event at the close of the Heptathlon, Katarina drew strength from Team GB's momentum on 'Super Saturday' and managed to set a new personal best in the 800m and smash the Junior British Record whilst doing it!
Katarina responded to her performance with her characteristic modesty:
"I don't think Rio [Olympics] will compare to this as the home crowd is amazing, but I'd love to be doing a four-year countdown to reach Jess's standard.
"And we have the World Championships in 2017, which is here, so hopefully I'll be coming through then!"
We wish her the best of luck with the challenges that lie ahead!
